Doorstop alert!
Due to popular demand, and rope becoming available, we have made a giant monkey fist door stop from salvaged fishing rope from Newlyn. We only have 1 of these “braa gee things!” available in this colour and design – so if you want it, be quick!
Measuring 15cm in diameter, 39cm cm in length and approx 850g, this “helluva monkey fist” door stop is £45 plus postage.
A monkey fist is a traditional knot used by fishermen. A shore line with a monkey fist tied to the end is thrown ashore. Then the other end of the shore line still aboard the boat is tied to a heavier mooring rope to enable it to be pulled ashore.
These Monkey Fist Doorstops have the traditional knot at one end and a spliced loop at the other.
